Shirley Arnold is chair of Telkom. From 2004 to 2007, she was a nonexecutive director of gaming company Peermont Global, where she also chaired the empowerment committee. She is currently director of AllAfrica.com.
During the 1980s, she was a consultant to various companies in the US, including Unisys, the Rockefeller Foundation, and National Geographic Society. Returning to SA in 1994, she set up Mmela Consultancy & Advisory Services, and also worked with Thebe Investment Corp and Worldwide Africa Investment Holdings. She was acting chair of Ernst & Young Southern Africa between 2004 and 2006. She is a member of the Institute of Directors, and was a member of the Chairperson's Forum and the Gordon Institute of Business. She is also a trustee of the Maths Centre, and the Thuthuka Bursary Fund. Married with two children, she holds a BA and a certificate in education. She enjoys reading to relax.
